JCCP adheres to the Editorial Policy Statements of the Council of Science Editors (CSE, available at http://www.councilscienceeditors.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3286).
Submitted manuscripts will first be read by one or more members of the journal’s staff. Papers may be returned on the basis of in-house assessment alone.
Original papers with positive in-house reviews will be included in the peer-review process, being sent to at least two reviewers. Authors are invited to suggest reviewers for their article during the submission process but the final choice will be made solely by Journal Editors. Authors are blinded to the identity of the chosen peer-reviewers, but a list of contributing peer-reviewers for each calendar year is published on a yearly basis. The recommendations of the reviewers place each paper in one of the following categories: 1. Accept 2. Accept with minor revisions 3. Accept pending major revisions and re-review 4. Reject from publication.
If reviews are encouraging, the manuscript will be sent back to the author for revision, together with a preliminary decision. This is not an acceptance of publication. A revised version of the manuscript should be sent back to JCCP as quickly as possible, in the time span specified by the editors, with all changes highlighted in yellow. When uploading the revised manuscript, the original files will be available to the authors, who will replace all files that have been changed during the revision process and delete any redundant files before completing the submission. When uploading the revised manuscripts, authors should also provide detailed responses to reviewers’ comments, not later than one week for minor revisions or two weeks for major revisions. If this time span is exceeded, JCCP will consider this as gesture of renunciation and the reviewing process shall be cancelled.
After submission of the revised manuscript, the editors can recommend the manuscript for immediate publication or choose to perform another round of peer-review. All accepted manuscripts will undergo editing and typesetting and will be scheduled for publication in a following issue of JCCP. If rejected, manuscripts cannot be re-submitted. Authors are welcome to send an appeal by email to office@jccpractice.com, in case they consider their manuscript needs to be reconsidered. Appeals should describe, in detail, why the authors think the decision should be reconsidered, together with specific answers to all peer reviewers’ comments, if applicable, and an Editor will be in touch in due time.
Proofs
For manuscripts accepted for publication, PDF proofs will be sent via email to the corresponding author for checking. Please check proofs carefully, since manuscripts can undergo editorial modifications. Corrections should be returned within 72 hours by annotated PDF through e-mail.
Copyright agreement form
After online submission of the manuscript, all authors will receive an email containing a link to the copyright agreement form (sample form available online). Manuscripts cannot be published if the form is incomplete or if it has not been filled out by all authors.
Post-production corrections
Corrections are made promptly if the publication record is affected by the scientific accuracy of the published information. Corrections are published as a formal notice (erratum) in a subsequent issue. In order to notify editors of needed corrections, proceed to the Author center for online submission of Errata or contact the editors directly at office@jccpractice.com.
Prints and permissions
After online publication of the article, the authors can freely print the PDF file for personal and academic use. The PDF file can also be uploaded to personal or institutional repositories and websites. Please make sure to only upload and print the final version of the article, not the PDF proof or any intermediary versions of the manuscript. For commercial use of the articles, please contact office@jccpractice.com to discuss terms and conditions.
